Overcoming Career Challenges in 2019

Local Job Stars 19 December, 2018

With the New Year upon us, it is time to figure out what went wrong in 2018 so that you can fix it in 2019. If you feel that your career path or your job search in 2018 was less than satisfactory, keep reading to learn how you can turn it around in the New Year.

Are You Under Qualified?

If you have had multiple rejections during your job search due to the fact that you do not have the training required for a certain job, then 2019 is your year to change that. Take the time to evaluate exactly what kind of training would be most beneficial to your job search. Once you have that figured out, take the plunge. It may feel scary to go back to school or into a training program, but in the long run you will be so glad you did.

Are You Procrastinating?

One of the biggest challenges to achieving goals is our own procrastination. Have you been putting off making important phone calls to contacts? Do it. Have you been avoiding attending a job conference? Make plans to go. Have you been avoiding searching for a new job altogether because you are scared of another rejection? You will never succeed until you take the risk. Risk taking is a natural part of pursuing a goal. It may feel scary but it is the only path that will lead to what you ultimately want.

Are You Listening to Negativity?

Negativity can come in many forms. It could be the voice of others telling you that you will not get the dream job you want. It could be the negative voices inside your own head saying you aren't good enough or that you don't deserve a better job. Shut those voices up with positivity. You are in control of your destiny.

Just because 2018 was not ideal, does not mean 2019 shouldn't rock! Take charge of your job search in 2019 and watch things turn around.
