The Top 4 Jobs Suited To Early Birds

Although night owls are the most likely to complain about standard office hours, early birds also take issue with the usual 9-to-5 schedule. These employees are often sapped of their energy by the time afternoon arrives. Fortunately, there are plenty of career paths suited to early birds, including those detailed below:

Stock Associate

Supermarkets, big box stores, and other retail centers typically have their shelves restocked early in the morning when the stores are closed or have few customers browsing the aisles. A fondness for incredibly early shifts is required, as many stock workers arrive by 2:00 am, when their night owl counterparts are finally crawling into bed.

Radio or Television Producer

A number of radio and TV producers and announcers begin each workday bright and early at 4:30 am. This is especially true for those assigned to morning shows, which may air as early as 5:00 am. Those involved in production must be alert and ready to work an hour or more before the scheduled show begins.

High School Coach

Although many high school teams practice during the afternoon, some are scheduled prior to the beginning of the school day. This is especially common for swim team participants, many of whom are in the pool and swimming laps hours before their classmates wake up. Keep in mind, however, that this job could involve dealing with cranky teenagers.

Morning Bus Driver

Many bus drivers have the option of driving one or both routes — and those who prefer to wake up early are well-suited to driving kids to school as the sun is rising. Depending on the school district’s schedule, morning bus drivers may begin their routes as early as 5:30 am.

From supermarkets to school districts, a variety of employers are willing to reward early birds with impressive wages. If you enjoy getting up before dawn, consider taking advantage of one of the aforementioned job opportunities.
